Improvisation with Ryan Smith is a five-hour elective PD professional learning opportunity that provides teachers with the skills and knowledge to help their students improvise more effectively in the music classroom. Join Ryan from his studio in the northern beaches of Sydney for a full day developing the musicianship, confidence and skills to find the joy in improvisation. For the first time, Ryan Smith brings over 20 years of experience as a professional musician, songwriter, performer and music educator to teachers.

About RYAN

Ryan Smith is a musician, songwriter and educator and is the head of music at C3 college in C3 Church SYD. After graduating high school in 1993, he was awarded an associate diploma of jazz from the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, Australia graduating before venturing into the live music and production scene. He was the Music Director at C3 Church in Oxford Falls from 2004 till 2016, and he has been involved in over 30 gospel album releases over the last 20 years. He has travelled, performed and educated in the USA, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia and led music ensembles at countless conferences and events. He has recorded five of his own albums and has an advanced diploma in creative ministry and a TAE. Ryan has been married to his beautiful wife Michelle for 25 years and they have three incredible children.
