Five reasons why writing improvement is messy – and what to do about it

Too often we sign up to professional writing courses to make our lives easier – as if we can sanitise teaching and learning.

But like learning, writing improvement is messy.

This one-hour course will explore five metaphors for writing improvement that will help you rethink your approach to writing. You will learn why a food fight, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and refereeing the NRL Grand Final are better metaphors for teaching writing than standing up and delivering the four ugliest words ever uttered by the teacher, ‘Let’s Write a Paragraph.’
